What is BehaviorTools™?

The PCMA is proud to offer the BehaviorTools™ courses as well as a program to certify those who are trained to proficiency in the skills taught. All classes are highly informative, entertaining and interactive. While the material is consistent with state-of-the-art behavioral research and principles, it is presented in an extraordinarily “user friendly” way. Participants relate easily to the real life examples that are used and the easily understood ways that principles and strategies are explained. The strategies are highly effective and often work quickly. Many participants return to the second class session excited to share stories of how the “BehaviorTool” taught in the previous session worked with their consumer, student or family member.

ASAM - Patient Placement Criteria

The CLAS Trainings provide useful information on how to improve services to those we serve, especially the disparate populations on Guam. This includes the under-served and under-represented communities. This is a highly interactive and fun opportunity with stimulating learning activities.  We discuss issues of confidentiality, language, culture, attitudes, discrimination, shame & stigma and health equity, to name a few topics. We also talk extensively of the racial and ethnic considerations in the delivery of quality services.

·        Demonstrate how to Strengthen Relationships (Behavior Tool  ™)
·        Define reinforcement
·        Demonstrate how to Use Reinforcement (Behavior Tool ™)
·        Identify Junk Behavior
·        Demonstrate how to Pivot (Behavior Tool ™) from junk behavior
·        State what Behavior Tool to use in a particular situation
·        Describe when it would be appropriate to use the Redirect Behavior Tool
·        Demonstrate the steps to the Redirect Behavior Tool
·        Describe when it would be appropriate to use the Set Expectations Behavior Tool
·        Describe when it would be appropriate to Use a Contract
·        Describe writing a contract and demonstrate the Use a Contract Behavior Tool
·        State what Behavior Tool to use in a particular situation
